Love is a Bridge
Bridging cultures, backgrounds, and lived experiences.
As a Nigerian immigrant married to a partner from a different cultural background, I understand the beauty and complexity that comes with intercultural relationships. My husband and I often say that our love is a bridge—a bridge that connects not only our hearts but also the worlds we come from. But we also know that building that bridge can sometimes feel overwhelming.
In intercultural relationships, navigating differences in race, ethnicity, and culture can be challenging. You might feel misunderstood, or you may struggle to balance your personal and cultural identity with your partner’s. I’m here to help you transform those challenges into strengths.
As someone who has personally experienced the individualist vs. collectivist dynamic in my own marriage, I offer guidance for couples to understand each other’s cultural values and build stronger connections.
Is This You?
🌿 You struggle to communicate across cultural or racial differences and feel misunderstood in your relationship.
🌿 Differences in race, ethnicity, or culture create tension, and you want tools to build empathy and understanding.
🌿 You’re struggling to blend your family’s expectations with your own relationship, and it’s affecting your partner.
🌿 You want a therapist who understands the intersectionality of being first-gen, bi-ethnic, or queer and can offer practical tools that honor both your love and your cultural identities.
🌿 You want practical tools to navigate your relationship in a way that honors both your love and your cultural identities
How I Can Help
I combine the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to give you practical tools to:
Break negative communication cycles and foster deeper emotional intimacy.
Build respect and understanding around each partner’s cultural and racial identity.
Create a shared vision for your relationship that honors both your roots and values.
With a culturally informed and inclusive approach, I understand the unique pressures that can arise in intercultural relationships. Whether you are navigating conversations around race and identity, I bring a lived understanding of the complexities that come with cultural and racial intersections.
