“Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
—Romans 12:2 NIV
As a Black Therapist, I pride myself on practicing culturally informed and decolonized counseling. Which simply means, I do not fully subscribe to the ancient, irrelevant, and overly formal ways of the forefathers of psychology. I believe in the liberation, justice, and equity of all people and I integrate these into my work.

My Clinical Methods:
I take an eclectic but trauma-informed approach to therapy that allows me to tailor to your unique needs. Here are some methods that I use.
Attachment Theory and Family of Origin work to help understand where you are coming from and to inform the way forward towards secure attachment.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) : EMDR is a trauma-informed approach that helps your brain and body reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel disturbing. EMDR can be especially powerful for those navigating addiction, domestic abuse, shame, perfectionism, anxiety, panic attacks, grief, sexual trauma, racial trauma, birthing trauma, famililal or spousal betrayal and infidelity. Clients often find that as we process, emotional weight begins to lift, insight deepens, and compassion for self and others emerges naturally.
Relational Cultural Therapy: I practice through a collectivist lens. I believe we were meant to live IN community. Healthy relationships are essential for emotional well-being. This evidence based approach will help me understand your relationship with relationships (social, professional, familial, and/or romantic) and empower you to move from isolation into using your relationships as a source for inspiration and motivation.
Emotionally Focused Therapy and Somatic Experiencing: To help you stop intellectualizing, and actually feel your emotions in your body. With somatic mindfulness and guided meditations we will equip you with the tools (ie: breath work) to work through distressing emotions and increase your bodily awareness.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for its evidence-based effectiveness in the behavioral modification of anxiety, depression, and ADHD etc.
Exposure and Response Prevention for it’s effectiveness in treating OCD.
Narrative Therapy & Parts Work: We work together to re-author the stories you tell about yourself and your parts. I help you step away from limiting narratives and build new, empowering ones that reflect your values and strengths.
Spiritually Integrated Counseling: For clients who choose it, I offer spiritually integrated counseling to explore your values and beliefs as a foundation for growth. This is open to all backgrounds and is never imposed. I am not a pastoral counselor, but I can help you align your spiritual identity with your growth, if meaningful to you.
These methods, combined with our therapeutic relationship, can be a catalyst for transformation.
My Therapeutic Values
I will always bring my whole authentic self and my lived experience in to the room.
